How to play online with Xbox 360 - Xbox 360 is Microsoft's second video game console. Like its predecessors, the Xbox 360 includes an online component known as Xbox Live. This system lets you play online, chat with friends, and download content from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Connect your Xbox 360 to your modem, using an Ethernet cable. If you are using a router, connect an Ethernet cable to the router.
Turn on your Xbox 360 console. If you already have an Xbox Live account, sign in to it. Otherwise, select "Join Xbox Live" from the console's main menu, and create a new account. You can also create an online account at the Xbox.com site, but you must be registered to access Xbox Live on your Xbox 360.
Select an Xbox Live Gold account when prompted to choose between a Gold or Silver account. A Silver account will give you access to the Xbox Live Marketplace and allow you to chat with friends, but only with a Gold account can you play online. For 2010, you can choose between US$7.99 monthly payments, US$19.99 quarterly, or US$49.99 annual payments. Enter your credit or debit card information when registering your Gold account.
Enter Xbox Live compatible games. It will appear on the back of the game box, it will indicate whether it is compatible to play online or not.

Select the multiplayer component from the game's main menu and select the Xbox Live option to enter the online multiplayer game. Consult your game manual for specific instructions, as every game is different. Connect to online games and play.
