Mechanical parts are one of the most prized items in Fortnite right now, allowing you to craft popular and valuable weapons from the game's past. Not only are players more used to them, but they are also some of the most powerful weapons available right now.

This means that finding Mechanical Parts, and of course getting them in sufficient quantity, is one of the main tasks that players set themselves when entering a game. Mechanical parts can be found all over the map if you hit the right objects, but most people tend to hit cars as they can pretty much guarantee one or a pair if you play your cards right. However, one method that has been around is shooting vehicles rather than hitting them.

As YouTuber Rigid Gaming has shown, if you shoot a truck with a gray or green SMG, you have a better chance of dropping more mechanical parts and you can pick them up much faster than hitting with the pickaxe.

Although there is no sure way to drop a certain number of parts from each vehicle, using this method may increase your chances of collecting more quickly. There may be times when emptying an entire magazine into a vehicle will not produce any parts, while other times it may drop as many as 4.

Of course, this method has some disadvantages, the most obvious of which is that you will waste a lot of ammo. That said, if you do fall near some cars, find a makeshift SMG, and want to upgrade your weapons, this might be a good strategy to try.
