The instructions in this article apply to older versions of Minecraft on Xbox 360 that need to download and install Update Aquatic.  Microsoft announced in May that it will stop updating Minecraft on older platforms like Xbox 360 after Update Aquatic. Now he plans to only support versions of Minecraft on the platforms they play the most: Java, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, mobile devices, and Windows 10.

Make sure you are connected to Xbox Live

You will need an Xbox Live account and Internet access to download and install updates. But, you shouldn't need an Xbox Live Gold subscription. A free Xbox Live account should work just as well.
To test your connection, press the Guide (or center) button on your controller.
Go to Settings> System.
Select Network Settings.
Then choose Wired Network or the name of your wireless network.
Select Test Xbox Live Connection.
You can also check the Xbox Live status page for service alerts. If there is an outage, wait a moment for the service to come back online and try again.

How to update Minecraft
Insert the Minecraft disk (if you have one) and launch the application. Once you're in the game's main menu, the update should start downloading automatically.

Depending on the size of the update, the download and installation may take a few minutes. If you are still having trouble downloading and installing the update, there are a few solutions you can try:
If you can't update Minecraft by following the method above, there are some troubleshooting steps you can try that may work for you.

CLEAR SYSTEM CACHE
Press the Guide button (large center) on your controller.
Go to Settings and select System Settings.
Select Storage (or Memory).
Choose a storage device and press Y (Device Options) on the controller.
Select Clear system cache.
Select Yes when asked to confirm.

DELETE AND REINSTALL THE GAME
If clearing the cache doesn't work, you can try removing and installing the game. If you purchased a digital copy, you will also need to download it again.
Deleting the game will also delete the saved information from the game. If you want to save your Minecraft world from digital extinction, copy the saved files to an Xbox 360 memory drive or USB flash drive. If you have a Gold subscription, you can also upload it to cloud storage.
From the Xbox control panel, go to Settings> System.
Select Storage, then select Memory Drive (the hard drive or the cloud drive with the game on it).

Select Games and Applications.
Find and select Minecraft, then press Y for Game Options.
Select Delete.
If you have a disc, insert it and install the game again. If you have a digital copy, download and install it again.
Copy the saved game information from where you saved it.
Launch the game and download the update again when prompted.

TEST A DIRECT MODEM CONNECTION
If your Xbox 360 connects to the internet through a router, try connecting it directly to the modem.
Plug one end of a network cable into the back of your console.
Connect the other end to your modem
Sign in to Xbox Live and start the game.
Choose to download the update.
